Hear from students, volunteer lawyers and partner organisations about the wide range of pro bono activities that SMU Law students take part in and how students make an impact on the people they serve. Pro bono work has always been an integral part of legal education at SMU’s Yong Pung How School of Law. With the help of the SMU Pro Bono Centre, students are able to experience the benefits of giving back to society at an early stage of their legal studies, with many continuing to do so even after they graduate and enter the legal profession.
The SMU Pro Bono Centre was set up in 2013 to initiate and manage pro bono activities for students. In addition to running a free legal clinic at SMU, the centre works with community partners such as the Community Justice Centre, Law Society Pro Bono Services, the State Courts and the Supreme Court to offer placement opportunities to SMU Law students.
